How much music can I play with Spotify Free? The amount of time you can listen to your Spotify streaming music is chiefly restricted to which type of Spotify account you have. While there are some limitations on the free account, both the Unlimited and the Premium plan is totally unrestricted – you can listen as much as you desire.
When you open a new Spotify free account, you will, for the first 6 months be able to access and stream music from the entire Spotify catalogue for an unlimited amount of hours. When you listen to music streamed from our servers the music licensing costs are supported by audio and visual ads.
After these first 6 months there will be some limitations. Here’s how it works: Each month your will receive 10 hours of free streaming. You will then receive 2,5 additional hours every week. If you do not use your hours, these will pile up for you to use later, the maximum saved time will be 10 hours. In addition, each individual track can only be streamed 5 times in total. We hope that this will still give you a great opportunity to share and discover new music, and to keep your musical options wide open.
Any time you would like to stream without any limitations at all, and without advertising of any kind, you can upgrade your Spotify account with a Spotify Unlimited subscription. If you would like to try the complete Spotify experience, with even higher music quality, offline playlist syncing, and access to your playlists in Spotify apps on a wide range of mobile devices, you could take your account to Spotify Premium.
No matter what subscription you’re under, there is no limitation as to how much you can listen to all your Spotify music purchases, and your own local files that you have imported into.
