Deze techniek, genaamd &lsquo;heart-in-a-box&rsquo;, maakt het mogelijk om donorharten langer buiten het lichaam te bewaren en te transporteren. <\/p><p>Hierdoor is het mogelijk om meer harten te transplanteren en zijn pati&euml;nten sneller te helpen. Lees in dit artikel hoe het werkt.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-introductie-van-nieuwe-heart-in-a-box-techniek\">Introductie van nieuwe &lsquo;heart-in-a-box&rsquo;-techniek<\/h2><p>In de lente van 2021 introduceerden artsen van het Erasmus MC, UMC Utrecht en UMC Groningen de &lsquo;Heart-in-a-Box&rsquo;-methode in Nederland. Deze innovatie houdt in dat een donorhart, nadat het uit het lichaam is gehaald, in een machine wordt geplaatst. Hierin kan het kunstmatig &lsquo;in leven&rsquo; worden gehouden door zuurstof en bloed toe te dienen, waardoor het weer begint te kloppen. Deze donorharten, die geschikt blijven voor transplantatie dankzij deze methode, worden ook wel DCD-harten genoemd. Dankzij de &lsquo;Heart-in-a-box&rsquo; technologie voor hartdonatie is het ook mogelijk om een hart te transplanteren van een overleden persoon na een circulatiestilstand. Voor veel mensen is een donorhart de enige hoop op overleving. Door de introductie van de &lsquo;heart-in-a-box&rsquo;-techniek zijn meer mensen te helpen. Ook betekent dit een kortere wachtlijst voor harttransplantaties. Dit is goed nieuws voor pati&euml;nten die dringend een nieuw hart nodig hebben.<\/p><div>\n          <style>\n        .sh-player-container {\n          min-height: 250px;\n        }\n      <\/style>\n        <div class=\"sh-player-container\">\n      <div id=\"sh-player-location-162438\" class=\"sh-player-location\" data-vr-zid=\"AAFxSiPS6-oktwTD\"><\/div>\n    <\/div>\n  <\/div><p>Het toepassen van deze nieuwe techniek is een belangrijke ontwikkeling in de medische wereld en biedt hoop voor pati&euml;nten met hartproblemen. Het vergroot de mogelijkheden voor transplantaties en kan levens redden. Het is een veelbelovende stap voorwaarts in de behandeling van hartziekten.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-uitleg-over-hoe-de-techniek-werkt\">Uitleg over hoe de techniek werkt<\/h2><p>Bij een DCD-procedure stopt de bloedsomloop en ademhaling van de donor. Na een &lsquo;no touch&rsquo;-periode van 5 minuten wordt de dood vastgesteld. Daarna wordt het hart vervolgens verwijderd en in een perfusiemachine geplaatst. In deze machine gaat het hart weer kloppen na toediening van zuurstof en bloed. Dit biedt chirurgen meer rust en tijd om de operatie uit te voeren. Olivier Manintveld, cardioloog in het Erasmus MC, legt uit: &ldquo;Het hart is op de perfusiemachine beschermd en kan maximaal 8 uur worden bewaard voordat het wordt getransplanteerd. Het gebruik van deze machine maakt voorheen onbruikbare donorharten geschikt voor transplantatie.&rdquo;<\/p><div>\n    <section id=\"section-ad-banner-r3\" class=\"section-ad-banner\">\n    <div class=\"container\">\n      <div class=\"banner-target-rx\" data-aceslot=\"r3\" id=\"aa-blog_r3_146202\">\n      <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n  <\/section>\n<\/div><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-innovatieve-methode\">Innovatieve methode<\/h2><p>De &lsquo;heart-in-a-box&rsquo;-techniek, ook wel bekend als normotherme machineperfusie, is een innovatieve methode voor het transport van donorharten. In plaats van het traditionele koelen en bewaren van het hart in een ijskist, wordt het hart tijdens het transport in een speciale machine geplaatst die de bloedsomloop nabootst. Dit zorgt ervoor dat het hart blijft kloppen en zuurstofrijk bloed ontvangt, waardoor het beter behouden blijft en geschikt is voor transplantatie.<\/p><div>\n    <section id=\"section-ad-banner-r4\" class=\"section-ad-banner\">\n    <div class=\"container\">\n      <div class=\"banner-target-rx\" data-aceslot=\"r4\" id=\"aa-blog_r4_90007\">\n      <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n  <\/section>\n<\/div><p>De machine maakt gebruik van een gecontroleerde omgeving met behulp van warme zuurstofrijke vloeistof om het hart te voeden en te beschermen. Het bloed wordt rondgepompt door middel van een pompmechanisme dat de natuurlijke hartslag nabootst. Hierdoor blijft het hart functioneren en worden eventuele schade of afwijkingen ge&iuml;dentificeerd en behandeld voordat het wordt getransplanteerd.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-voordelen-van-de-techniek\">Voordelen van de techniek<\/h2><p>De &lsquo;heart-in-a-box&rsquo;-techniek biedt verschillende voordelen ten opzichte van de traditionele methode van harttransport. Ten eerste zorgt de continue bloedsomloop ervoor dat het hart beter behouden blijft en minder schade oploopt tijdens het transport. Dit vergroot de kans op succesvolle transplantaties en verbetert de kwaliteit van het getransplanteerde hart.<\/p><div>\n    <section id=\"section-ad-banner-r5\" class=\"section-ad-banner\">\n    <div class=\"container\">\n      <div class=\"banner-target-rx\" data-aceslot=\"r5\" id=\"aa-blog_r5_170840\">\n      <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n  <\/section>\n<\/div><p>Deze techniek maakt het mogelijk om harten over grotere afstanden te transporteren, omdat het hart langer buiten het lichaam kan blijven functioneren. Dit opent nieuwe mogelijkheden voor het vinden van geschikte donorharten, zelfs als ze verder weg zijn.<\/p><p>Bovendien kunnen artsen en chirurgen tijdens het transport de conditie van het hart monitoren en eventuele problemen direct aanpakken. Dit verhoogt de veiligheid en effici&euml;ntie van het transplantatie proces.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-statistieken-en-cijfers\">Statistieken en cijfers<\/h2><p>Jarenlang was er, voor de introductie van deze nieuwe methode, al een tekort aan donorharten , wat resulteerde in het trieste feit dat 1 op de 7 mensen op de wachtlijst overleed.<\/p><p>De nieuwe techniek heeft geleid tot indrukwekkende resultaten. Volgens statistieken is er een stijging van maar liefst 30% in het aantal harttransplantaties sinds de introductie van de &lsquo;heart-in-a-box&rsquo;-techniek. Dit betekent dat meer mensen met een ernstige hartaandoening nu de kans krijgen op een nieuw hart en een betere kwaliteit van leven.<\/p><div>\n    <section id=\"section-ad-banner-r6\" class=\"section-ad-banner\">\n    <div class=\"container\">\n      <div class=\"banner-target-rx\" data-aceslot=\"r6\" id=\"aa-blog_r6_153385\">\n      <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n  <\/section>\n<\/div><p>Het team van artsen van het Erasmus MC, UMC Utrecht en UMC Groningen introduceerden de &lsquo;Heart-in-a-box&rsquo; methode in de lente van 2021 in Nederland. Eind juli 2023 stonden er 164 mensen op de wachtlijst voor een donorhart. Alleen al in het UMC Groningen zijn in de eerste helft van dit jaar al bijna net zoveel harttransplantaties uitgevoerd als in het hele vorige jaar.<\/p><p>Volgens de universitaire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.startpagina.nl\/#q=ziekenhuizen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ziekenhuizen<\/a> kan<strong> <\/strong>DCD-hartdonatie<strong> <\/strong>landelijk uiteindelijk tot ongeveer 40 extra harttransplantaties per jaar opleveren.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-toename-overlevingskansen\">Toename overlevingskansen<\/h2><p>De overlevingskansen na een harttransplantatie zijn ook verbeterd dankzij deze technologische vooruitgang. Pati&euml;nten die een nieuw hart ontvangen via de &lsquo;heart-in-a-box&rsquo;-methode hebben een hogere kans op een succesvolle transplantatie en een beter herstel.<\/p><p>Al met al heeft de &lsquo;heart-in-a-box&rsquo;-techniek een positieve impact gehad op het aantal harttransplantaties en de levens van mensen die afhankelijk zijn van een nieuw hart.
